How Young Black Girls Can Become The Next President

In the age of social media where information is readily available at the palm of their hands, young people are considered to be valuable assets. However, their potential has been untapped and undeveloped for so many reasons, especially for black girls. According to research, the most neglected person in America is the black woman compared to their counterpart. In fact, according to a human rights activist, Malcolm X, “the most disrespected person in America is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the black woman.”

So how do black kids achieve their dreams and become better citizens for the community?

Simple.

Empower them, especially young black girls. It is important that young girls know and feel that they are being supported, even encouraged to do the things that they are passionate about. In the words of Taria Pritchett in her TedX Talk video she said that “when black girls are loved, when they are encouraged, when they are empowered and equipped, black girls and black women have been known to start movements. They have been known to set people free; they have been known to fight for equality; they have even been known to become the First Lady of the United States of America.” And who knows, they could be the next president!

Furthermore, Taria also mentioned that there are three main ingredients in empowering black girls. First, black girls must be reassured of their beauty and brilliance; second, black girls must see relevant content and concept that reinforce their cultural heritage; and three, black girls must see positive representations of who they can become.

This is what Riley’s Way is all about - to empower, inspire, and teach young kids that they can be whoever they want to be. Riley’s Way reassures young black kids of the beauty they possess. It conceptualizes relevant content that always brings back to their roots. Most importantly, Riley’s Way provides a clear representation of who the girls can become.

As result of those advocacy, Riley’s Way has released its new design - Oh Yes That’s Right I Can Be President T-Shirts, mugs, and baby suit showcase young girls with their natural hair beauty that they can be president in the future; that anything can happen when they are determined to achieve their goals with the help and support of the people around them.
